Translating a figure in three steps
Export the figure at full resolution
Crop it from the PDF at high zoom or export it from your plotting tool as PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 30 MB. Small tick labels need pixels to be read.
Set the terminology rules
Tell it what to leave alone, for example "do not translate gene names, units or sample IDs", and which field the figure comes from.
Nudge labels in the editor
Translated labels can be longer than the originals. Adjust size and position so nothing overlaps a data point, then download.
What matters when the image is a research figure

Data
Only the text regions change
- The Standard engine erases each label and repairs the background behind it; bars, lines, error bars and images are not redrawn.
- Avoid GPT Image 2.5 for data figures. It regenerates the whole image, which is fine for an illustration but not for a plot whose values must stay exact.
- Multi-panel figures keep their (a), (b), (c) layout, with each panel’s labels translated in place.

Nomenclature
Scientific terms kept as they should be
- Custom instructions keep species names, chemical formulas, units and abbreviations exactly as written.
- Use one instruction for all figures in a paper so a variable is named the same way on every axis.
- Over 130 languages are covered, including the source languages of most non-English literature.

Revisions
Labels you can still edit
- Every translated label stays editable: change wording, font, size or colour after the run for free.
- Batch all figures of a paper at once: 20 per batch on Starter, 50 on Professional.
- Earlier runs remain in My Creations when a co-author asks for one more wording change.

Axis titles, legends and captions often need to go into the paper as text too. Image-to-text extracts them as Markdown so you can paste, check and cite them — free.
